Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss and Mr. Caleb!

Welcome to the World of Dr. Seuss Blog Hop...  If you have shimmied from Shelly, you have hopped to the right stop! :)  If you just popped on this post, you will want to hop to the top...Our lovely leader Lorby...She has opportunities for pretty prizes and gizmos galore...Read on below to see what's in store.  (Ok, enough rhyming ... LOL!)

For our hop, we were challenged to make a project featuring the great Doc Seuss.  My son's birthday is also on March 2nd, so this post and project is dedicated to my Cuddly, Courteous,  Crazy,  Considerate,  Clever,  Creative,  Classy, and  Cooky son, Caleb....Caleb has always been a silly Sam...Caleb loves to goof around and make me laugh...I love that about him!

Turning 14 has not dulled Caleb's ability to cut loose and act silly...so I decided to make a 2-page Scrapbook layout, using Dr. Seuss's Cat in the Hat as my inspiration...

I found this cool Dr. Seuss sticker pack at Michael's...so I used them for my title.

 Then, I looked through all my old and new photos to find photos of my son acting cooky and wearing a hat.  Surprisingly, it wasn't too difficult to find them.  I have a rather silly son!

Then, I just added some "C" words to the bottom border that classified my Caleb. :)

He's a nut but I absolutely love him and am so proud to be his Momma.  This has been the most difficult week, with the loss of my dear and equally cooky Opa:

Crafty Friends Give Blog Hop - Day 1

Welcome to the "Crafty Friends Give" Blog Hop. We are so glad you could join us for Day 1 of this very special hop. The mission of this blog hop is to raise awareness about bone marrow donations ,to help Leukemia patients, and to get people to register at http://marrow.org to be a bone marrow donor….

This hop is dedicated to a sweet friend and fellow crafter, Liz Decade. Liz is battling 2 different forms of acute Leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant. We are hoping that this hop will help her to find a match. You can see her story on YouTube.

Throughout this 2-day hop, you will be inspired by some wonderful projects. There are also some wonderful sponsors who have donated prizes for our hop:  Sweet Stamping Treats Digital Stamps, Trendy Twine, MB Treasurista, Paper Piecings by Nikki, Inspired Stamps, My Pink Stamper, and Peachy Keen Stamps. For chance to win one of these prizes you must comment on every blog in this hop. Sponsors may have specific requirements, so please see Liz's blog post for more details.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My name is ANGIE.  If you are coming from Tonya's blog, you are hopping in the right direction!!!  If you just came across my blog, you will want to begin with Liz (http://decadeofscrap.blogspot.com) to ensure you don't miss out on prizes!!
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ok…now on to my project!  We were asked to come up with a sweet

project that you would GIVE to a friend.  My crafty sis, Rachel, told me of this fun and simple card idea…I had so much fun making it...so now I want to pass the idea along to you! Being a working Mom, I love the words “fun” and “simple!” Here are the supplies I used...

The first step to this card is to get a photo with the person in the photo holding their hand up (like my daughter is…Isn’t she cute?  LOL)

The steps to making the card are so easy…At the top and bottom of the person's hand you need to put a small hole or slice where the lollipop would go.  Two tips:  1) Use a flat lollipop rather than a Tootsie Pop or Dum Dum.  It will just sit better.  Also, be sure to put adhesive on the edges of the photo BEFORE you put the lollipop in!  Trust me…

Voila!!!

If you can't tell, the picture makes it look like she is holding the lollipop.  You can embellish them anyway you like.  My daughter picked the colors and stuck on the hearts…You can use this card for any event, like a birthday or St. Patty’s Day..anything!  I made 20 of these in one night!

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is another card I made for my Auntie Pauline, who lives in Hawaii.
I punched a circle in the lower right corner of the card to reveal some earrings I made for her…
Speaking of earrings…How would you like to win these uber-adorable golden heart earrings from Tamara at Nesting Pretty?!!!
If you want a gift to brighten someone’s day or if you need something pretty, you HAVE to check out her ETSY shop!  Click photo.  The items are wrapped so beautifully, you won’t want to open the box!  LOL!  To win the adorable heart earrings, please leave me a sweet comment and then hop over and “LIKE” Nesting Pretty’s FB page.
Thank you for stopping by and don’t forget to go to http://www.marrow.org and find out how to become a marrow donor.  Here is the entire hop list for DAY 1 in case you get lost:
Picture Perfect Blog Hop
I am so excited to have an "excuse" to craft...not that I need one, but with a busy "working Mom" schedule, sometimes the only way to get craftin' is to commit to do something like a blog hop.  I am so glad I did. This was so much fun!!!
First of all, I want to thank Wendy Turner for letting me know about this hop...and to Gill McCall and Doris Parker for organizing this fun hop!!!  It's an honor to be lined up with some creative blog friends.  I cannot wait to see what everyone has whipped up.  Here is the line up, in case you missed your place:
Our challenge for this theme was to take photos and create a card with them... For this hop, I am using some recent holiday photos we took of my adorable kids..Caleb, 13, and Michelle, 3...
I love the colors in this photo, so I selected blue, red, orange, and green papers...Once I chose the colors,  inspiration blossomed from there.  I dashed through Hobby Lobby and found some great ribbon and glitter glue that pulled colors and flowers from my daughter's dress.
Here's the BEFORE photo of my project:
Flowers and Ribbon and Papers...oh my! :)  Then, it was on to deciding what type of card I wanted to make. I chose a "Never-Ending" or "Magic" card.  I love interactive cards, and this one blew my mind the first time I made it.  It's a lot of fun and really not that difficult to make, so I had to make another one!!!
I found some great how-to videos on YouTube:
Dawn's Stampers:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAVAzDtcdw0
Robin's Craft Room:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_PP5JY8ubo&feature=related
Here is my card... I just LOVE how it turned out.
Here is the card in action: (Many thanks to my son, who filmed this for me!)
I hope this project inspired you to find another use for your photos...
Remember grandparents love pictures of their grandkids!!
I am giving this card to my parents, as a Thank-You card.
I plan to make more for others in our family and for birthday cards.
Now how about some blog candy....
I just love the sparkly glitters from Martha Stewart crafts.
All you have to do is leave me a comment and become a follower to win a chance to win this 12-pack.  I will chose a winner via Random.org on Monday!  Have fun and enjoy the rest of the hop...
Hope on over to Ms. Talented, Janet S!! ~~ Hugs, Angie
WE HAVE A WINNER!!!
This past weekend's blog hop winner of a $30 craft store gift certificate (Michael's, Joann's, Walmart, or Hobby Lobby) was drawn using Random.org.  I combined the comments from Days 1 and 2, arranged them in time order, and then counted down to the Random.org number...and the winner is:
I hope you have enjoyed all the fun, fabulous, and crafty projects featured today.  For my Day#2 project, I decided to create a Holiday Scrapbook layout page.  Usually, I dread scrapbooking holiday photos.  I never really understood why, because I love the holidays and my family gatherings.  I think I figured out my problem...I can't stand the colors red and green together...
and in years past that's really all you ever see.  Thankfully, now, I have seen a whole rainbow of colors to signify the holidays...
so I had a blast with my newest holiday layout.  I purposely refused to use red and green..and I really love the way the layout turned out.
I started with some cool scrapbook papers I found at Archiver's.  Then I grabbed all of my favorite tools and started getting colorful and crafty...I felt like a kid again!
I used the Gingerbread stamp set I bought years ago from Stampin' Up!
For the house, I used some dimension dots to make certain candies pop.  I also went crazy with Stickles again to give the house some sparkle and bling.  I really love how it turned out. It's much cuter in person... :)
The colors I used for the paper and to color in the images were picked to match the colorful background paper.
I plan to use this page to scrapbook our traditional Gingerbread construction.  It's a real fun time...usually the house doesn't meet OSHA standards and the feds usually shut us down. LOL.but it's a great time.
Here's a photo of my guys a couple years ago surrendering to the whims of the Mom of the Gingerbread House...Don't they look thrilled.  Hee hee. I love it!  :)
Have Fun this Holiday!!!  This hop has been a blast. Thanks again to Belinda for asking me to be a part of it.  I love my new layout...I just may not dread scrapbooking this Christmas after all.  :)
OK now onto the fun stuff....BLOG Candy...Prize:
You have a chance to win $30 gift certificate, but you MUST follow these instructions:
1.  Please become a follower of mine and tell me you have done so in your comment.  I love meeting fellow crafters!   Leave your contact info, so I can get back with you if you win! :)
2.  Read the post just below and tell me what my family made.  Then, tell me if your family has any traditions or what you do to spend some quality time with your family during the busy holidays.
That's it.  Good luck!  Hope you enjoyed the hop!!!  Tata for now. :)
